Update January 5, 2014:

PharmD students, Pamela Lyons and Evan Williams (Class of 2014), competed in the National Clinical Skills Competition at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting on December 7th and 8th, 2013.  Pamela and Evan progressed to the final round of the competition placing them in the top ten teams nationally.

The purpose of the Clinical Skills Competition (CSC) is to encourage and recognize excellence in clinical skill development for pharmacy students. The CSC is designed to facilitate an interactive, team-based analysis of clinical scenarios for health-system pharmacists. The CSC provides pharmacy students the opportunity to enhance their skills in collaborative practice with physicians in providing direct patient care. This was the 18th year of competition.

The University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy held its Annual Clinical Skills Competition on Wednesday, October 16, 2013. Eighteen teams participated in this event and the winning team will represent the school in the ASHP National Competition to be held on Saturday, December 7th, in Orlando, Florida.

Congratulations to Evan Williams (Class of 2014) and Pamela Lyons (Class of 2014), the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy Clinical Skills Competition Winners for 2013. Pam and Evan will attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting to compete against other schools of pharmacy at the national level.

Judges for the evening event were Jennifer Belavic, Heather Johnson, Kimberly Miller, Arpit Mehta, Rita Habib, Nick Wytiaz, and Greg Fakelmann.
