PittPharmacy students took a break from finals preparation to deliver toys for the Toy Drive at UPMC Matilda Theiss Health Center. Kelsey Moss, (class of 2016) and ACPA representative, led the initiative on PITT’s campus. The generosity of the PITT students overwhelmed the staff at the site.

UPMC Matilda Theiss is a small urban community health center that serves a primarily low income and uninsured population. The health center serves approximately 1600 patients, 30% are uninsured, 60% are Medicare or Medicaid and the reminder have private insurance. Pharmacists and pharmacy residents from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy provide full time clinical pharmacy services including: medication access through on-site dispensary and patient assistance programs, patient counseling, provider education, medication reconciliation, preventive care programs through a smoking cessation clinic, and disease state management for high risk patients.
