PittPharmacy_MikeZemaitis_3723PittPharmacy’s Michael A. Zemaitis, PhD was appointed to the FBI Heroin Outreach Prevention and Education (H.O.P.E.) working group in August 2015. This group consists of representatives from education, law enforcement, media production, drug rehabilitation and pharmaceutical science. The working group is designing interventions at the middle and high school level to educate students and reduce the use of heroin and prescription drugs in this population.

Zemaitis was also  appointed by Pennsylvania Department of Health Secretary, Karen Murphy, to the state advisory group to implement Act-191 – Achieving Better Care by Monitoring All Prescriptions (ABC-MAP).

ABC-MAP is Pennsylvania’s new prescription drug monitoring plan which is designed to improve opioid prescribing and patient care and reduce “doctor shopping” in the state. His appointment began in September 2015.

Zemaitis is a professor in the pharmaceutical department at PittPhamacy.
